Evan Allgood writes humor, screenplays, sketches, essays, interviews, and other things. He’s a frequent contributor to McSweeney’s and The New Yorker’s Daily Shouts and has also been published by The Believer, The Millions, Vulture, Paste, and Los Angeles Review of Books.

His animated pilot, “The Nethermead,” was a quarterfinalist in the 2023 ScreenCraft Comedy Competition, the Vail Film Festival Screenplay Competition, and the Filmmatic Inroads Fellowship, and a second rounder in the Austin Film Festival. His feature screenplay, ‘Do & Dave, was a finalist in the Atlanta Film Festival Screenplay Competition and a semifinalist at Fresh Voices, where it was nominated for Best Dialogue and Best Screen Chemistry. His short plays have been produced all over the country, including at the Metropolitan Playhouse in New York.

Evan studied sketch writing at UCB and satire writing at Second City. He’s read his work at KGB Bar and Greenlight Bookstore, and completed artist residencies at the Millay Colony for the Arts and Zoe House. He lives in Brooklyn, near the cemetery.
